Removal of teeth
Most times, we prefer to save natural teeth where we can. Anything artificial we can make such as implants, bridges or dentures are not replacements for teeth but substitutes only. Some reasons teeth may need to be removed include untreatable decay, cracks, splits, wisdom teeth that cause pain and may be impacted, orthodontic extractions, crowding or removal of a sore tooth if alternative treatment (such as root canal treatment) is not within their budget. Our clinicians are able to painlessly and efficiently remove most problem teeth under local anaesthetic. In the situation where you prefer to have a General Anaesthetic, have a complicated medical history which may increase your risk of problems or if the tooth is going to be very difficult we will refer to one of our trusted oral and maxillofacial surgeon specialists in Toowoomba. Extractions vary in price because they vary greatly in difficulty from a very quick procedure to a longer surgical procedure which may involve sectioning the tooth and removal of some surrounding bone. If you see a specialist for an extraction it will be more expensive. Sometimes you may have a dissolving stitch placed over the wound. If you have questions about how to manage your mouth after an extraction, we have a link to our post operative instructions here.
