Thank you for choosing our practice for your dental needs and giving us the opportunity to help.
To make your first visit as smooth as possible we prefer to securely email your medical history form to you in advance. This gives us any relevant background information about you. Don’t worry we will not send any advertising material to your email address. Your medical history needs to be checked and updated every 12 months to ensure there are no changes such as contact details, health fund changes, medications and health history events.
With your consent, we prefer to use SMS as a helpful method of communication with you. We use SMS to send confirmation reminders and other necessary information about your appointment with us. We will not send spam texts.
We are located in a beautiful converted historic home with a green roof on the corner of Herries St and Burstow St in the Caledonian Estate in East Toowoomba.
When you arrive, you will find on-site parking with access via Burstow St. Alternatively, there is additional paid street parking located on Burstow St.
Once you make your way up the ramp and into our building please let our front office staff know you have arrived. Ideally please try to arrive a few minutes before your appointment time. We value your time and strive to keep on schedule throughout the day. If on the odd occasion however, there are any delays expected we will endeavour to contact you and let you know as a courtesy. If you have another appointment to attend, or cannot afford to wait for any reason, please advise our staff immediately and we will try to work with you to solve any anticipated problems in advance.
If you have extras cover with a health fund, please bring your most recent health fund card to every appointment. Claims must be made on the day of the service for electronic claiming. Alternatively you can pay up front and claim back directly with your health fund. We do require payment on the day.
We generally prefer you to have your next appointment booked and in place when you leave. We find this especially helps us to keep our goals of regular preventative treatment on track, helps you choose your most convenient day and time, and saves frustration if it is difficult to find a time to reappoint you in the future. We understand that of course you can’t know exactly what your schedule will be like in 6 or 12 months, but at least we have a space reserved and an approximate time and date to work with.
It can be unpleasant to discover unexpected costs after dental treatment is completed. Patients who have Medibank, Westfund or HCF health funds should not have any out of pocket expense for full check-ups and cleans twice a year as needed. Other health funds are of course welcome, but there may be gap payments depending on your level of cover. If you would like, our receptionists can provide you with an estimate of fees for your first visit upon request. Your first visit usually includes an examination, x-rays and cleaning. Remember once you have had your initial examination, future regular examinations with us will be less expensive and routine x-rays aren’t usually required for another two years. If you require additional treatment to be done after your initial examination we like to give you an estimate of the costs expected. We can also swipe your health fund card, if applicable, so you will be aware what your gap or out of pocket expense will be for your treatment. If you have not received an estimate, and you would like one, please ask.
We are fortunate to have several wonderful dentists working at Herries St. If you have an emergency, you may be booked in to see a different dentist to your usual one depending on availability. They will also have access to all your past dental history and notes. If your usual dentist can’t see you because they are unavailable or away, the last thing they would want is for you to suffer pain or concern until they can see you! Be assured, you will be looked after by any one of our gentle practitioners to stabilise the condition and relieve pain and then your usual dentist will be able to see any notes and x-rays taken in our software and follow up at your next scheduled visit with them. The dentists involved communicate with each other should something like this occur and they will consult with your usual dentist about what happened. Don’t worry, you will be in good hands, regardless of who you see and you will not offend your usual dentist by seeing someone else at the practice.
